Support

The Last Resort Artist Retreat is diligently preparing as we move closer and closer to our launch date in 2023. We are seeking financial support to assist in funding Operational, Programming, and Building Development for our organization as we prepare to welcome the first group of residents next year. Your donation is essential to all that we are going to accomplish. Together, we will make this come to life.

Your financial contribution will be dispersed throughout these 3 key areas:

1. Operational Budget: 512K

  • Employees: Salaries for Executive Director, Program Director, Facilities Manager, and Administrative Project Manager

  • Consultants

  • Freelancers

The general operational approach will be focused on providing highly efficient and effective processes and systems in a friendly atmosphere. We will have four full-time staff members, part-time personnel, and consultants that will allow us to strategically develop processes and systems allowing us to function cohesively and maintain the relaxing accommodations on-site. This area also includes general maintenance personnel, supplies, and equipment that aid in the upkeep of the home itself as well as the grounds.

2. Programming Budget: 220K

  • Residents’ room and board

  • Workspace accommodations

  • Visiting lecturers lodging and accommodations

  • Housekeeping

  • Groundskeeping

The main focus of programming is to create a safe space for relaxation and connectivity. This includes all costs related to residents’ travel, room and board, and a stipend while they are here in Baltimore. On-site we will provide complementary therapies administered by licensed practitioners as well as access to off-site memberships and partnerships that will enrich residents’ experience. Your support also funds weekend stays and incubation activities with arts advocates and allies that share our mission, as well as public programming aimed to foster relationships with local businesses and the Baltimore community.

3. Building Development: 322K

  • Studio workspaces

  • Multipurpose Pavilion

  • Art Garden Community Space Landscaping

  • Public art installation

  • Custom outdoor furnishing

The homestead has an acre of developing green space that will house four work spaces studios and an art garden open to the public. The four work spaces will be outfitted shipping containers placed on the property for easy access and available for residents to create freely, without any intended outcomes. The adjacent art garden will allow for TLRAR to offer the community public hours of operation for citizens to enjoy green space and a pavilion for small events.

We are proud of the hard work and effort that has been done so far to build this organization as we look forward to making our presence known throughout the Baltimore arts community and around the world. In collaboration with our fiscal sponsor, Maryland Art Place [a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization], we have a goal to raise 1.2 million dollars, securing funding for the next 2 years to start which will allow us to be fully operational by 2023 through 2025.

Please help us make this dream a reality through your generous offering. We are asking for minimum donations of 10K which in return individuals will receive our benefit print "Kings on Vacation" (edition of 100) as a thank you for your support
